A Sailor’s Touch…..

Summertime is just around the corner and that gives thought to lighter clothing, vacations and relaxation. The happy emotions of longer days, sun, sand and water start to set in. These lovely selections add just the right amount of nautical touch to a timeless summer wardrobe.

"Shipwrecked" A Twist on Nautical

In the spirit of July, the most recent editorial I styled for Black Cat Vintage has a little bit of a twist to the story and the maritime inspired fashion. Head over to the shop's gallery to give it a whirl!

She awoke from her mid-day nap only to discover she had capsized in a blistering desert.

No matter: her hair and suitcase of amazing vintage clothes survived intact, so she treated the cranes to a fashion show using the playa as her runway. Our July editorial takes maritime elements made chic by Chanel and Gaultier and propels them forward by mixing in modern separates and bold accessories. Think of it as haute fashion at sea level. ~Syd

An affair with the French...

Or rather the French Riviera to be specific....

This post is way overdue! Sooo... after I have my studio some-what back in order and I have come out from under the piles of clothing (21 pieces to be exact), that I styled for this particular show. I have to share with you what I had been working on the last couple months....

The summer runway show took place in late May and was called "Passport." A travel inspired show.  Each Designer or Fashion Stylist, was given the opportunity to create a collection that was inspired by a destination of their choice.

Of course being the nautical and french style nut that I am, my choice was the French Riviera-without hesitation!

There were definitely some amazing pieces in this show! Timeless color palettes of red, white, black & blue, sunny yellow, and stripes were on the brain for days.......Here are some photos from the actual runway.

After all was said and done, I decided these clothes were too much fun to be put away in the archives of runway. Why not pull a few looks to put in an editorial? So here are some beautiful pictures from my nautical fashion spread and some tips on how to pull off this style in chic fashion every summer! You can read "Sail into Summer" here!
