about

Golden Girl of the West was born in 2006 as a creative outlet for me to share my passions, collections, inspirations, modern desert lifestyle and the things that make me happy in time and place. It is dedicated to the aesthetics of lifestyle, design, vintage, personal style, and a curation of beautiful, timeless things. If you have a knack for all of the above, you might find yourself comfortable here, so come on in and spend some time with me. I am a wife, mother, and creative spirit who loves my family, and looks forward to the many blessings and beauty to find in life...

Little about me....

Sydney Ballesteros is a creative director and consultant, stylist, curator + collector, whose portfolio belies her beloved small town desert roots. Influenced by a musically artistic upbringing and one fashion-savvy grandmother, the second an antiques collector. Sydney developed an early appreciation for the bygone that permeates her current work and timeless aesthetic, which is instantly identified by its classic appeal, underlying glamour, and attention to details. Sydney has a niche and unique eye for bringing a lifelong study in history, vintage clothing and past style inspiration, into a freshly refined and modern day, wearable feel. Her ability to unite disparate concepts, genres and eras and to see beauty in unconventional things has earned her a loyal following from Los Angeles to New York City. The breadth of Sydney’s talent is reflected in the scope and scale of her work, which includes editorial, runway, film, brand and commercial styling. As well as interior/exterior prop sourcing + styling, curating, location scouting, casting, creative consulting, producing and writing. She enjoys treasure hunting, coffee dates, museum visits, watching old films, spontaneous dance parties, traveling, and getting lost in book stores to name a few. Sydney currently dwells in the desert, under the big Arizona sky in a 1940s era adobe, where she lives gracefully with her vintage collection, her wheaten terrier Gracie, miniature dachshund Benny and the two handsome men in her life: her husband Carlos and son Romeo.
