Back from the Shadows-just some updates.....

I have to say that after a long hiatus from blogging, it is actually really nice to be able to settle in at my computer this cold winter evening, with a hot chai tea by my side and Billie Holiday's Christmas album playing on my radio. I've really missed my blogging outlet and my online friends, but I won't even go into every little detail about all the things I have been working on and trying to juggle the past few weeks. Better yet, as pictures and updates start to roll through, I will also try to update Le blog...

Just to mention a quick few, first up I had a recent photo shoot with Vestige photography and had so much fun styling a nautical themed summer wardrobe in the middle of winter (couldn't tell, could ya?), to pose with the 1947 Chris Craft yacht located at The Shady Dell. Not hard to do when you live in Arizona I guess......although tonight it is a blithering 24 degrees out (those of you that live in much harsher winter conditions, continue to laugh at me, it's o.k, I digress....)

Moving on, I recently had a showcase of some dresses from my collection, at The Old Town Artisans- "Every Woman" event in downtown Tucson. For this event I chose to show mostly my 1950's & early 60's holiday inspired pieces, that could be worn for all the special festivities in the months of November through January. Here is a picture of me with all my beautiful muses wearing my dresses. I, of course wore my most favorite Christmas dress of all time! My red, black & green plaid, 1950's taffeta, full circle skirt dress!

And lastly, I recently styled a music video shoot in a 1950's set for the hip hop/soul/pop group Goddess & She. This video was for their new hit "Love Machine", from the album "Three", which made it's debut on MTV'S Logo channel and is also licensed to be featured on shows such as Cribs and True-Life. These ladies were nothing but sweet and talented and they were an absolute pleasure to work with. I cannot spoil too many details about the shoot, number one because I am sworn to secrecy until the video is premiered and number two, well I just can't post any pics from the shoot beforehand, it's against set etiquette-lol!. Those of you who have worked on movie or video sets before, can relate to my anxiousness to see the finished/edited product. From what I was able to see, it looks like it turned out amazing and I cannot wait to share the finished video with you all. The song is really a catchy dance number and believe me, I had it in my head for days after that! Oh ya! and my son was also a little extra in the video, he was absolutely thrilled and looked sooo cute dressed as a miniature greaser-oops that all I'm saying.......

I am looking forward to getting back to some restful days sitting at my computer and reading through all your wonderful blogs, until the next wave of busy work comes through. It's a creative outlet for me that I really enjoy and am always inspired by. I hope you all had a really nice Thanksgiving weekend surrounded by delicious food and beloved family and friends!

XOXO~Syd

  3. Wow! Congrats on the video! That's really exciting!

And those dresses from the Every Woman event are crazy amazing. I wish my waist were smaller for 40's/50's/and most of the 60's styles. Still fun to look at though.
