Flirting with Leopards

Leopard has added a feisty little touch to a woman's wardrobe since it's eccentric popularity rose in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Glamorous movie mavens like Carol Lombard, were quite happy to indulge in this exotic pattern.

I think that in order to wear leopard in a successful style, it must be done very carefully. Too much of it, all over the place, all at one time, can lead to a leopard fashion disaster.

The rule of thumb I apply to myself when wearing leopard; is to tastefully apply small touches of it to a solid color {image one}. Or if I'm going to wear a full garment in a leopard print, such as a blouse or coat . I make sure the rest of my outfit pieces are not leopard {image two}, again balancing it in with solid colors. That way I don't scream overkill on the leopard. I personally love this print and feel sassy-chic every time I have it on!

New Years Wishes and Wardrobe Niches

Happy New Year to all you lovely bloggers out there! I figured I would ease my way into the new year with a good old fashioned wardrobe post. One of my goals is to get back on track with my blog for the new year! Things have been so busy in my world lately and I feel so out of touch with my blog, and out of the loop reading all of your amazing blogs! I anticipate putting that notebook chock full of ideas, (that I scribble in all the time) to good use this year and stop ho-humming around. I hope everyone had an amazing holiday season filled with family time, love and happiness and of course plenty of good food and wine to go around!

The weather has been pretty cold for Tucson the past few weeks, so it gives me a mighty good excuse to indulge in my hat collection. One style of hat in-particular that has seen the town plenty of times this season are my berets! I absolutely love this chic, simple, versatile hat and I think I have worn almost about every color I own so far. Well... my black, white & red one anyway. The new green velvet one my stylish son got me for Christmas, is up next to catch the bus to town (te-he-he.....)

a little french inspiration....

Oh ya! Apparently, my favorite vintage black gabardine skirt is just as versatile in my wardrobe-ha! I love the beret so much that I decided to write an article about it's history, for Tucson's local urban arts, fashion and entertainment magazine The Zocalo. Go have a look, read a little fashion history and let me know what you think.
