Inspired by Ballerinas

Some of the soft feminine touches and pretty details that are taken from the ever so graceful ballerina, are the elements that I was inspired by when I styled my outfit today. 

Delicate sheer fabrics like tulle and lace, a dainty gold and diamond pendant necklace, simple matching tennis bracelet and of course a perfectly placed top bun all contribute to the finishing touch of the this look!

Black + Yellow

Black and yellow is such a catchy little color combination. I think it's just that pop of yellow against the harsh black, that gives it that second look! I have so many color combo's that I adore and black and yellow never falls short!

Blue + Red

I'm pretty sure that I have said it before, but I have many favorite color combinations that I like to see styled together. Sometimes, my eye is just automatically drawn to these colors and it happens in a natural state.

That being said, the combination of baby or powder blue and bright red is a favorite of mine.

Kissing my Capes Good-bye....(till next year)

If there is one winter coat that I love to wear and just can't live without, it would have to be the cape!

The short lived winter season here in Tucson has just about run it's course. And as much as I love spring style and summer sundresses, I do hold my capes near and dear to my heart! Sometimes, I just wear them anyways, pushing on the winter that really doesn't quite exist here. I probably look ridiculous to some people walking down the street in a knee-length faux fur leopard cape, when it's seventy degrees and sunny outside, but do I care? NO.

Today's high hit 85 degrees, so I'm afraid I will have to kiss them goodbye for a little while, and start pulling those sundresses out (which I'm sure some people who live in long-cold-winter climates, would be happy to do in February). In honor of the cape, I wanted to do a quick re-cap of some of my favorite ones, that I had the chance to take photos in. Then I will be sending them off! I didn't even get to wear all of the ones I own. Oh well, there is always next year!

BIG

Big hair and a big bag is how I rolled today. I picked this darling dress out, when I was on vacation in Austin Texas, and it has turned out to be a favorite of mine. It's a sweet 1960s Lane label piece, with a brown, cream and black plaid pattern and a cute little neck tie attached to it.

I had a good hair day today, and I was pleasantly surprised with the wind capture in the photo.

Raspberry Beret

I just can't seem to shake my habit for wearing my red beret these days.

A Pop of Peach!

The combination of black and white is always a classic and never fails to make everything look good and simply polished!

Sometimes, it longs for a little color in it's life, why not give it a pop of peach?

A Pretty Little Fall Skirt

I have been waiting for the weather to cool down here, just enough for me to be able to wear this cute little skirt. It's color scheme screams fall and it's completely covered with an acorn and leaf motif. I found this last year, just as the weather was getting warmer. Believe me, I have looked at it, walking by my closet hundreds of times over the summer months, and said, "I can't wait to wear that!"

So here it is, even though it may be slightly still to warm here in Arizona, I just couldn't wait any longer!

It's a thicker quilt like fabric, and garnished with a thin black lace piping around the edges and dainty round black buttons, and it came with it's matching belt! (bonus)

My black patent leather t-strap flats and 1950s vintage purse, added the finishing touches.

Since it was a little warmer than most places outdoors, by this time of year. I paired it with a short sleeve blouse. This black & white peter pan collar top was the perfect addition for now, but I have a cute  sweater and some tights picked out for a later-cooler date, you will just have to wait and see!

Black and White Lace.....

Black and white lace.....

These two pieces are eras apart, but made out of the same lace fabric. I love the eye appealing look of classic black and white together (always), so I experimentally paired them together to see how they would flow (maybe too much lace?), nope, turns out I like the way the top fitted with the skirt. The break in colors off set the lace. So it was off I go! Oh ya, Gracie decided she wanted in on the action also!

Mint with a Cherry on Top!

I love the color combinations of mint green and red together, in fact I love them so much, that combo is also the color palette in my kitchen, at home.

After recently cleaning out my closet and trying to organize items by color. I realized how much the fondness of these colors, reflected in my personal wardrobe as well. So I decided to put together a couple of outfits using some pieces I already had in my closet, and wear them for a few days in a row.....

Bohemian Purple

This 1970s bohemian dress is embroidered with the most beautiful shades of purples and a pretty little bird detail! Made from a cotton blend, it was a little cooler than I thought it would be on a hot summer day. We are still facing 108 degree days here in Tucson, and I am more than ready to play with my fall wardrobe.

Paisley Pants and Gracie!

Well hello there....

I have not fallen off the face of the earth, i've just been a little busy bee lately....

First things first, I would like to introduce the newest member of my family, Gracie! 

At five months old, she has been keeping us pretty busy around the house and has gotten most of the attention these days....We adopted her a couple of weeks ago and she is such a happy little girl! She is a soft-coated wheaten terrier and full of life and cuddles. Literally cute as and soft as a teddy bear.

So onto the pants...

I picked these pretty paisley print pants up a few months ago at Desert Vintage, and I have been itching to put them on since. A perfect staple for fall, they can be combined with so many different tops, shoes, and accessories! For this look, I opted for a more classic-chic ensemble, adding pops of purple and then topped it off with a black velvet bow-tie and black velvet belt. It is still a little warm in Tucson, but I couldn't wait any longer to put these on and I look forward to wearing and experimenting with them a lot this fall!
