Red is the Question?

It is no secret that Rita Hayworth is one of my favorite beauties of the Golden Era. Not only did she have Spanish roots, but she could dance her socks off too! Dancing partner to Fred Astaire in the film "You'll Never get Rich". Along side Betty Grable, she was most remembered as one of the most sexy and alluring dames of the war time 1940's.

For a couple of months I have felt like I needed a beauty boost & change. I have been contemplating on dying my hair Rita Red! My current hair color is a natural light brown color. I have not had any dye in my hair for a couple of years. In fact it's been healthy and able to breath for a while. So I am a little hesitant to start that high maintenance process again. However, my hair has natural under tones of red it in anyway. They always show through in the color I wear and when the sun beams down on it, it's pretty obvious. I have had my hair red before, about 10 years ago. It actually takes to the color quite well. I just love red heads! Just a little encouragement needed, or not! If you don't agree, I can completely take constructive criticism.

So the question is "Should I go Rita Red?"

  2. I think you would look lovely! What about trying Henna? I have never used it myself, but the ladies that do really rave about it.

  3. Well, I guess you have to think about very well because red color is very hard to take out later.
BUT I guess your will look very pretty with red color because of the color of your skin.
If your do it, of course I would like to see a picture of you with your new look! ;)

  7. I most definitely support going with red hair! I went from black to red in August by the hands of a lovely co worker (I work in a salon) and I have never looked back! I get copious compliments and I always get told I look like a 40's pin up. It does take time to get the formula just right and it might have to be tweaked for the first few times you get the color touched up. On another note, don't use henna, it's very unpredictable and it terrible on the hair. Find a reputable salon to have it done at that stands behind their work and provides excellent customer service (read reviews, check out websites, if you see someone on the street whose hair color you like ask them where they have it done ... and most importantly check out the hair color of the employees at the salon: is it not so hot? then you probably don't want to go there). You would look fabulous in red hair and it's a nice change of pace in general.

  8. Andi- LOL! thanks doll! You should do it! You would look lovely!

Jessica- Thanks for the encouragement! I think I'm definitely leaning towards that side.

LaRae- I feel the same way about red heads. It's definitely a 40's color! Thanks for all of the information. Because there are so many shades of red. I am doing my research on someone who is qualified to give me the exact red that I am aiming for!
