Kissing my Capes Good-bye....(till next year)

If there is one winter coat that I love to wear and just can't live without, it would have to be the cape!
The short lived winter season here in Tucson has just about run it's course. And as much as I love spring style and summer sundresses, I do hold my capes near and dear to my heart! Sometimes, I just wear them anyways, pushing on the winter that really doesn't quite exist here. I probably look ridiculous to some people walking down the street in a knee-length faux fur leopard cape, when it's seventy degrees and sunny outside, but do I care? NO.

Today's high hit 85 degrees, so I'm afraid I will have to kiss them goodbye for a little while, and start pulling those sundresses out (which I'm sure some people who live in long-cold-winter climates, would be happy to do in February). In honor of the cape, I wanted to do a quick re-cap of some of my favorite ones, that I had the chance to take photos in. Then I will be sending them off! I didn't even get to wear all of the ones I own. Oh well, there is always next year!

{the seventies suede and leather one}

{the fifties navy and red one}

{the sixties brown, black and coral, plaid one}

So tell me, who else around here is a cape freak?

The Fall Collections-Part 1

NYFW is over and done and it is time for me to speak my mind about my favorite collections!
(not that my little voice matters, but I will share anyway)
Since there was so much eye-candy going on, I will have to split this up in two post. So here goes the first set...humor me, while I gave each collection it's own little nickname.

     First up on the list is....one of my favorites!

{Oscar De La Renta}

Ladylike

The 1960s inspiration, luxurious textures and silhouettes are just so incredibly flattering. Stepping outside the uncommon color hues that are usually chosen for fall, this collection sticks to a touch of the pastel palette is just the icing on the cake {literally}. Pretty pastels in baby blue and pale pink, and ladylike embellishments just make this collection so GOOD to look at!

{Ralph Lauren}

A mix of menswear inspiration from the 1920s paper boy, to the dazzling jazz babies of the era.

{Marc by Marc Jacobs}

Geeky Chic

{Michael Kors}

MAD for PLAID!

{Preen}

I love the color palette of Preen's collection, a bit of sophisticated homage to a whimsical nature.

{DVF}

Minimal Elegance

{Jill Stuart}

Feminine Mystique

{Gucci}

Gothic Chic

So tell me, which one of the fall collections was your favorite?

A Spring Dress Giveaway!

Shabby Apple, an online boutique for women's dresses, contacted me a few days back to collaborate with a giveaway on my blog, and I am so happy that this bright and cheerful dress {just in time to sport for the spring and summer months}, is going to go home to one lucky loyal reader!

The Pineapple Princess Dress
{an $86.00 value}

With this seasons bright colors, pastel palettes and my love of peplums in full effect, it was only natural that for my giveaway selection, my eye was drawn to this lovely yellow dress from Shabby Apple! I can just see it perfectly paired with a pair of bright color of shoes, like the Purr shoe style {also from Shabby Apple}, and some pretty ladylike accessories to complete the ensemble!

So here is what you have to do:

1. Head over to the Shabby Apple facebook page and make sure to "like" {this is contingent for giveaway eligibility}

2. Visit www.shabbyapple.com

3. Enter your name and comment below on this blog post to be entered into the drawing.

4. Make sure to specify in your entry comment below what Shabby Apple dress is your favorite!

A winner will be chosen from a random drawing later this week and will be contacted through email.

Good Luck!

BIG

Big hair and a big bag is how I rolled today. I picked this darling dress out, when I was on vacation in Austin Texas, and it has turned out to be a favorite of mine. It's a sweet 1960s Lane label piece, with a brown, cream and black plaid pattern and a cute little neck tie attached to it.

I had a good hair day today, and I was pleasantly surprised with the wind capture in the photo.
