Hawley Lake

This past weekend my family and I decided we needed to take a little getaway. Away from the city to a place that is quiet, serene and provides a big open sky to think and gather thoughts under.

For us, that place is Hawley Lake, a quick 3 hour jaunt up north to the White Mountains of Arizona, tucked away on reservation land. I know it is hard to imagine that Arizona sees anything other than saguaro cactus, dirt and sunshine all the time, but there are spots in the state that  are cold, crisp and green. September is the perfect time to feel the air changing up there, because you still can't fill a thing until nighttime, down in Tucson. Here are some photographs from our little adventure in the mountains, enjoy!

Of course, if there is even the smallest little antique store on the side of the road, we ARE going to stop! We did, and I found the cutest little vintage treasure pins (cowboys & indians). they fit right in with the atmosphere and I went home with the boot pin (couldn't resist).

The local market had a really sweet vintage sign that was put up in the 1960s. I just love looking at vintage signs and typography, here is a quick snap of it...

A nice place to sit and reflect.

Enjoying some downtime, with my coffee and my doggie!

Our quaint little cabin door.

Camping food munchies.

A boy and his dog.

We can't wait to go back next year, and if the universe is on my side, that other cute little pin I wanted at the antique shop, will still be there, waiting for me to take it home.

The Spring 2012 Collections

So, after the dust has settled a little bit from the chaos that is " Fashion Week", we now have a pretty good idea of what the fashions for Spring 2012 are looking like. Can I just say that as much as I love and adore fall fashion, I am pretty excited about all the of the vintage style influence on the runways. Pretty much everything from the 1930s Great Gatsby look on Ralph Lauren's runway,  the pretty pastel pallets on Jill Stuart's and Alice & Olivia's, to the 1960s mod looks at Milly.  It made me so giddy  to see a full appreciation and so much inspiration coming from past decades, and a journey thru all the ones I love, at that!. As a long time admirer of Kelly Wearstler's interior decor abilities, I was so happy to see her style flow into the world of fashion. Since collecting vintage clothing is nothing new to me, I am happy to report that I  have quite a few pieces already in my collection, "to play with," that are very similar to what fashion is looking towards for spring 2012. Here are a few of my favorite looks from the collections. These lovelies caught my eye and make me really, really antsy for the coming season.

Black and White Lace.....

Black and white lace.....

These two pieces are eras apart, but made out of the same lace fabric. I love the eye appealing look of classic black and white together (always), so I experimentally paired them together to see how they would flow (maybe too much lace?), nope, turns out I like the way the top fitted with the skirt. The break in colors off set the lace. So it was off I go! Oh ya, Gracie decided she wanted in on the action also!

Mint with a Cherry on Top!

I love the color combinations of mint green and red together, in fact I love them so much, that combo is also the color palette in my kitchen, at home.

After recently cleaning out my closet and trying to organize items by color. I realized how much the fondness of these colors, reflected in my personal wardrobe as well. So I decided to put together a couple of outfits using some pieces I already had in my closet, and wear them for a few days in a row.....

I present to you "Mint with a Cherry on Top"
